Chances are if you reach into a freezer to pick out an ice cream, Pedro Saez and his wife, Laura, may have had something to do with it.  Pedro and his wife own a fleet of Pela Ice Cream trucks that drive all over Knoxville selling ice cream in neighborhoods, filling freezers at convenience stores and showing up to events. Pela Ice Cream — ‘PE’ for Pedro and ‘LA’ for Laura — was started in 2001. We have 12 trucks, but not all are on the road; right now we have about five trucks. It’s recommended that each driver goes to a different area — South Knoxville, Fountain City, Halls or Northeast Knoxville — we want to reach every street, every sidewalk of your neighborhood.
